Nikhila H. is Professor and Head, Department of Film Studies, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, where she teaches and researches in the areas of Film Studies and Gender Studies. She has been teaching for nearly 25 years, first at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, Pondicherry Central University, Puducherry and now in EFL University, Hyderabad for the past 12 years. She got her doctorate for her dissertation on Gender and Partition. She has organised Seminars, Film festivals and Workshops, and presently is a coordinator of an Online Film Discussion forum called Talking Films Online. She supervises research in Film Studies and eight students have been awarded their Ph.D. degree under her supervision. Her recent publications are on filmic remakes and multimodal translations between different Indian languages. Her current research projects include a commissioned essay for a volume on Shyam Benegal, and for a collaborative volume on New Cinemas of India, where she is researching on New Age Kannada films.
