Who we are

Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) is an annual event that celebrates creativity in all its forms. The Festival, started in 2010, draws over a 100 writers, artists, scholars, publishers from India and abroad each year. HLF is a multi-lingual event with a strong focus on writing in the Indian languages. 

What we do

The Festival has emerged as an important event in the cultural calendar of the country representing as it does, the rich and cosmopolitan ethos of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as the vibrant culture of the modern Cyberabad. 

Why us?

HLF is a Festival for All. Its programme includes conversations with authors, readings, panels discussions, workshops, book launches, cultural programmes, events for college students and school children.

Organisation

Hyderabad Literary Festival 2017 is organized by “Hyderabad Literary Trust” in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Telangana, and with the support of several academic, literary, cultural organizations and publishing houses.

Guest Nation

Inviting a foreign country to showcase its literature and culture was a feature added to the Festival in 2012. Germany was the ‘Guest Nation’ at HLF 2012, France at HLF 2013 and so on. Philippines has agreed to be our guest nation at HLF 2017.

Indian Language in Focus

Special events for college students and school children alongwith panel discussions, workshops, stage talks, authorspeak, cultural evenings,book launches and film screenings are some of the programmes lined up for the coming festival.

Broader Objectives of the Festival
  • To highlight the rich cultural legacy of Hyderabad and promote the city as a focal point of new creative energy.
  • To promote and further the cause of Indian literature in Indian languages and in English.
  • To bring into focus the need for an active interaction among local, national, and foreign languages and cultures.
  • To create a platform for artists from different creative fields to interact with each other and share their work among themselves and with their readers/audiences.
