Damodar Mauzo

Damodar Mauzo is the recipient of the Jnanpith Award for 2022. His other awards include the Sahitya Akademi Award (1983) and the Katha Award (1998). He is a Konkani short story writer, novelist, columnist, critic, and scriptwriter. Ink of Dissent (2019) is a collection of his essays and lectures, originally written in English. Teresa’s Man and Other Stories was nominated for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award in 2015. The English translation of his recent novel, Jeev Divum Kai Chya Marum (Should I Kill Myself or Have a Cup of Tea) is forthcoming. He is a co-founder and co-curator of the Goa Arts & Literature Festival.
