Samhita Arni started writing and illustrating her first book The Mahabharata: A Child’s View (1996) when she was eight. It went onto to be published in seven languages and sell over 50,000 copies. Her second book, Sita’s Ramayana (2011), in collaboration with Patua artist Moyna Chitrakar, was on the New York Times Bestseller List for Graphic Novels. Her two other works, The Missing Queen (2013), and The Prince (2019), further her interest in interpretations of mythology and history. She has lived in Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Italy, and the US, and has also worked in Afghanistan. She writes for magazines and newspapers, and works on screenplays.
