Purushottam Agrawal was member, Union Public Service Commission of India (2007-2013), Chairperson, Centre of Indian Languages, JNU, New Delhi, and also visiting professor at Cambridge University, and at EL Colegio de Mexico. His book Akath Kahani Prem Ki: Kabir ki Kavita aur Un ka Samay (2009) is a path-breaking study of Kabir and his work. His other books include Majbooti ka naam Mahatma Gandhi (2005), Hindi Serai: is via Yerevan (2013), Padmavat: An Epic Love Story (trans., 2018) and his first novel Nacohus (2016). His latest book Who is Bharat Mata? (2019) is a selection of Nehru’s writings and speeches about the Idea of India.
