Preti Taneja

Preti Taneja teaches writing in prison and in universities; holds an honorary fellowship at Jesus College, Cambridge University; and was the UNESCO Fellow in Prose Fiction (2019) at the University of East Anglia. Her novel We That Are Young (2017) won the 2018 Desmond Elliot Prize for the UK’s best debut of the year, and was listed for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize, the Rathbones Folio Prize, and the Prix Jan Michalski Award. It was a book of the year in the UK’s Guardian, The Sunday Times, the Spectator, and The Hindu; has been translated into seven languages; and is being made into a major international TV series.
