Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay is best known for reportage and analysis on the rise of Hindu organisations, their politics, and agitations which he has tracked since the 1980s. While The RSS: Icons of The Indian Right (2019) is his latest publication, his earlier book The Demolition: India at the Crossroads (1994) was among the first on the Ayodhya discord and the rise of Hindutva. Narendra Modi: The Man, and The Times (2013) and Sikhs: The Untold Agony of 1984 (2015) are his other publications. He writes columns for several newspapers and web portals, and is a familiar face on television news and video channels as commentator and host.
