Mani Rao has an MFA in Creative Writing from UNLV, and a PhD in Religious Studies from Duke University, USA. Her publications include nine poetry books and two books in translation—the Bhagavad Gita, and Kalidasa for the 21st Century Reader. Her poems and essays have been published in various journals—Tinfish, Wasafiri, Meanjin, Washington Square, Fulcrum, West Coast Line, and Interim—and in anthologies—W. W. Norton’s Language for a New Century, Penguin’s 60 Indian Poets, and the Bloodaxe Book of Contemporary Indian Poets. She was a Visiting
Fellow at the Iowa International Writing Program (2005, 2009), and University of Iowa International Program’s writer-in- residence (2006).
