Himanshu is Associate Professor of Economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has been CR Parekh Fellow at Asia Research Centre of the London School of Economics. His areas of research include issues related to poverty, inequality, employment, food security and agrarian change. He is the principal investigator for the sixth and seventh round of Palanpur surveys along with Nicholas Stern and Peter Lanjouw. His recent publications include The Changing Village in India: Insights from Longitudinal Studies (2016; co-edited with Praveen Jha and Gerry Rodgers). He writes a fortnightly column on issues related to development in MINT. He has received the Sanjay Thakur Young Economist Award and the personnalités d’avenir.
