Govind Nihalani

Govind Nihalani is an Indian film director, cinematographer, screenwriter, and producer, known for his work in Hindi cinema. His first film as Director, Aakrosh (1980; scripted by the playwright Vijay Tendulkar) shared the Golden Peacock for the best film at the International Film Festival of India, New Delhi (1981). He then directed Ardh Satya (1983; based on a story by SD Panwalkar), and adapted Mahasweta Devi’s acclaimed novel Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa into a film with the same name (1998). He has been the recipient of six National Film Awards, and five Filmfare Awards.
