Christian Schüten was born in Krefeld, Germany and first studied architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. After joining the department of industrial design at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg (HFBK), the University of Arts in Berlin and Kunsthochschule Weissensee, he graduated with honours in industrial design in 1996. In 2011 he qualified at EPEA Hamburg as a Cradle to Cradle Design Consultant and EcoDesign Consultant in the ‘IPP, network of competence’, for Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg. In 1994 he, with two partners, founded his first design studio named ‘Büro für Gestaltungsfragen’ which since 2009, is run under the name ‘BFGF DESIGN STUDIOS’ by Gerrit Kuhn, Sebastian Mends-Cole, Eric Pfromm and Christian Schüten. He is a member of Art
Directors Club Germany, designxport Hamburg e.V. and has been heading the board since 2015.
