Chandrashekhara Kambara

Chandrashekhara Kambara is an eminent Kannada writer, folklorist, film director, and founder Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi. His pioneering plays blend mythological themes and contemporary issues, folk forms and modern theatre. He has been conferred with many prestigious awards and honours including the Jnanpith Award (2011), Padma Shri (2001), Sahitya Akademi Award (1991), Pampa Award (2004), and Kabir Samman (2002). He served as the Chairman of the National School of Drama and as Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council. Currently he is the Vice-President of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
