Chandan Das, a thalassaemia major and cancer patient, teaches English in Shailabala Women’s College, Cuttack, Odisha. His PhD in Translation Studies (2008) is from Utkal University. His poems, short stories, and articles have appeared in national and international journals such as Indian Literature and South Asian Review. His own life story, The Road Taken was published in 2014. He has translated Fakir Mohan Senapati’s iconic Odia novel, Lachhama (2013), and Chandrasekhar Raths’ award-winning novel, Asurya Upanibesa (The Sunless Land; 2015). He has been selected for the “Subrat Rath Smaraki Puraskar” (2016) by the Gangadhar Rath Foundation, Cuttack, for his translations.
